Welcome to Our Lady of Mount Carmel College, Emekuku.

Established in 1942 by the Holy Rosary Sisters.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel College, Emekuku is a Catholic secondary school dedicated to providing holistic education that nurtures academic excellence, sound moral values, spiritual growth and responsible citizenship.

Founded on the enduring principles of Catholic education, the college has, over 80 years, maintained a tradition of excellence in learning and character formation. Now under the administration of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Sisters, the school continues to provide a disciplined, caring and Christ-centred environment where every student is encouraged to realise his or her full potential.

Our academic programmes are designed to promote critical thinking, creativity, innovation and lifelong learning. Alongside classroom instruction, students participate in sports, cultural activities, leadership programmes, clubs and societies and community service, all of which contribute to their all-round development.

Purpose of Catholic Education...
1. As stated in the Vatican Council Document on Christian Education "True Education is directed towards the information of human person in view of his final end and the good of that society to which he belongs and in duties of which, he will, as an adult, have a share" (Gravissimum Educationis, 1965).

2. The purpose of Christian Education is to help children and young people to develop harmoniously their physical, intellectual, moral and spiritual talents and qualities.

3. They should be trained to acquire gradually a more perfect sense of responsibility in the proper development of their own lives by constant effort and in the pursuit of liberty, overcoming obstacles with unwavering courage and perseverance.

4. The immediate and specific purpose of Christian Education is to cooperate with divine grace in forming the true and perfect Christian to express and form Christ Himself in those who have been regenerated by baptism.

5. Anyone who has received formation in Catholic Education should feel, judge and act always, consistently in accordance with reason, enlightened by the example and teaching of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
